In this month’s employee spotlight, Renee Camorlinga, Document Management Supervisor, sheds some light on her 15+ years at Lewis; plus, how she likely holds the title for Most Impressive Baker in the Corporate Office.
What do you do at Lewis and what does a typical day look like?
Renee: My typical day consists of working with other departments as well as with my team making sure Work Agreements, Contracts, Legal docs, and Accounting documents are put into Egnyte in a timely manner. As the Document Management Department has grown, I spend the day planning and making sure new tasks are completed daily by my team. This includes scanning daily check run, processing invoices in Bottomline, Prelims in Integrify, as well as verifying every document put in to Egnyte is of the best quality. With the growth of this department, my goal is to continue to learn as well as help my team grow and feel confident in the work they are completing.
What drew you to working at Lewis?
Renee: After completing college, I started here at Lewis as a temp to gain that office environment experience. After working for a year, I was hired on as a full-time Lewis Employee. What drew me to Lewis was the family culture and the opportunities to grow with in the company. Seeing the growth in the Scanning Department since my days as a Temp has been amazing. I enjoy that every day comes with new tasks, challenges and projects that continue to make my team and I grow.
What has your career path looked like?
Renee: I started off as a temp and was hired on as an Accounting Clerk to the Lewis team. After years as a Scanning Technician, I was promoted to Lead Scanning Tech. Over the last few years, I’ve been promoted to Document Management Assistant Supervisor to Document Management Supervisor.
How do you stay busy outside of the office?
Renee: Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my husband, kids, extended family, and friends. I love going to sporting events, Disneyland, traveling or having a good meal with amazing people. I also enjoy baking and making treats. This hobby has really turned into a creative outlet for me. I must admit, I get more out of seeing people’s reactions when they see the Cakes, Cupcakes, or treats I make. Especially when I started getting requests for orders, it’s been fun being part of big celebrations, parties and even making treats for the annual bake sale to raise money for the Salvation Army here at Lewis.
How did you get started with baking?
Renee: What started off as an interest in making sweets for my kids has turned into me making Cakes and treats for family and friends. Over the years I’ve made Cakes, Cupcakes, Chocolate dipped treats such as Cake pops, Caramel Apples, Pretzels, and Rice Krispies for special occasions. It’s awesome seeing how much I’ve grown over the years.
Any favorite moments with baking?
Renee: I would have to say using my creativity to create cakes and treats has been my favorite part of baking. Not only it being a big way to relax, but I also like turning ideas into creative yummy treats that match clients’ ideas to make their party or celebration extra special. I also enjoy sharing my creations on my Instagram @sugar_source.
Biggest challenges with baking?
Renee: My biggest challenge would have to be taking on too many orders. Although I love using my creativeness and enjoy baking, I do tend to take on too much. Over the years I’ve learned to not overwhelm myself with orders, because I still want to be able to have quality time with my family.
