Approximately 50 people gathered on July 8th for the ribbon cutting ceremony for Independence in Dixon. The event brought together a wonderful cross-section of our local leadership and organizations, creating an atmosphere of collaboration and shared purpose.
Strong Community Turnout
The event saw impressive attendance from key community stakeholders, including:
- Members of the Chamber of Commerce
- City Council representatives
- Planning Commission members
- Local nonprofit organizations
- Area business owners and leaders
Supporting Local Education and Youth
One of the highlight moments of the event was the presentation of donation checks to four deserving local nonprofit organizations:
- Dixon High School PTO – Will use funds to provide appreciation events to support teachers and staff throughout the school year, as well as assist students with funding for special events throughout the year.
- John Knight Middle School PTO – Will be using the funds to support their programs for students throughout the year.
- Dixon High School FFA – Provides students with opportunities for leadership development, personal growth, and career success in agriculture. They will use funds to support their programs throughout the year.
- J.A. Taylor Foundation – Provides education, training and development opportunities to youth in skilled trades, agriculture and athletics. The donation will be used to support acquisition of a modular building that will be used as a training resource center for skilled trades workshops and career technical training opportunities.
Laura Zuckerman spoke passionately about how these proceeds will benefit each organization and the students they serve, detailing the specific impact each donation will have on the community’s educational and youth development programs.
Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
The event culminated with a memorable ribbon cutting ceremony led by Richard Lewis, who had the honor of officially cutting the ribbon. City officials and Chamber members stood proudly behind him, symbolizing the unified support for this community initiative.
The ceremony marked a continued commitment and represents another positive step forward for our community, showcasing the Lewis Group of Companies’ continued commitment to local development and community support.
