Brandon Groves is the Manager of Operations Training at the Lewis Group of Companies. He enjoys spending time with his two sons, traveling, hockey, and discovering new places to eat.

What has your career path looked like?

I’m coming up on my 15-year anniversary with Lewis, spending the majority of my time working at our Apartment Communities within our Residential Property Management Department. I started as a Leasing Consultant and slowly worked my way up to a Community Director, managing two of our outstanding communities in Rancho Cucamonga—Santa Barbara and Carmel. I moved over to the Learning & Development team in November of 2011 as the Manager of Operations Training.

What gets you excited?

What gets me most excited about my role is seeing others succeed, especially in their personal and professional development. Whether they achieve a new skillset, brush up on leadership skills, or receive a promotion, it’s highly rewarding to be part of that employee’s journey and know I helped to contribute to their success.

How do you stay busy outside of the office?

I love spending time with my beautiful wife and my two boys. Our weekends are always busy with T-Ball games, birthday parties, and visiting family. We spend our free time visiting theme parks like Disneyland and Legoland. I love to travel, and our favorite destination is Hawaii. I’m a huge hockey fan and root for the Philadelphia Flyers. I try to catch every game of the season if I’m able to. I love movies and try to watch something new at least once a week or catch up on my favorite shows.

How do you define success, and what drives you to achieve that?

In my role, I define success as knowledge transfer and application. In Learning & Development, it’s all about how we can best serve the employee and make the training environment conducive to learning. Not only do we have to help the employee learn a new skill set, but how do we ensure that they’re applying what they’ve learned? As a result, our training at Lewis is extremely interactive and activity-based. We want to ensure that every employee is given the opportunity to succeed.

Any goals for 2025?

My biggest goal for 2025 is to launch our new “Career Pathing” initiatives for RPM by the end of the year. This will be a combination of programs, including new Career Pathing Learning Plans, job shadowing, and mentorship opportunities. We’re working on revamping several other programs that will be included in Career Pathing, and we hope to have those launched later down the line after the initial rollout. With the rollout of these new programs, now is the perfect opportunity to work on your professional development. But you must be able to willing to put in the extra work to take the next step in your career path.
