Community Care: Lewis, The United Way & Local Schools
Recently, members of the Lewis Human Resources team volunteered with the Inland Empire United Way’s IEUW School Tools Superhero program. This annual program provides thousands of underprivileged students with school supplies essential for academic success. The team organized and restocked shelves of books, pencils, markers and other supplies, then prepped the boxes and prepared them for shipment.
United Way shared that our local teachers receive up to $1000 worth of new, unused school supplies to use in their classrooms and/or distribute to their students. Through the program, teachers improve classroom instruction, and increase student self-esteem and confidence, leading to better classroom performance, engagement and motivation.
This year the Inland Empire United Way will serve 1,903 teachers through the program, benefiting over 57,000 students in 2019. Overall, more than $1.4 million in school supplies are donated, sorted and passed out. Our employees are fortunate and proud to represent Lewis in this great effort!
