Darren Rodriguez is the Leasing Administrator for Homecoming at the Preserve. He values family, appreciates Friday night softball, enjoys living life to the fullest with his girlfriend and daughter, and indulges in being a FOODIE — then, of course, working it off at the gym.

Tell us about yourself?

I’m someone who thrives on both personal and professional growth. I’m very family-driven, which means I value strong relationships and integrity in everything that I do. Being family-driven has taught me the importance of responsibility, teamwork, and perseverance. Right now, I’m focused on being the best Father & Leasing Administrator that I can be. I’m also excited about all the opportunities to grow with Lewis!

How do you define success, and what drives you to achieve that?

I define success as living with purpose; a healthy, happy family is success to me. Also, making a positive impact, continuously growing, and working towards unrelentingly improving myself. While accomplishments or milestones are important, it’s also about the relationships that I build along the way, the difference that I make in others’ lives, and, hopefully, to have a positive impact in the process. I am driven by a combination of personal fulfillment, the desire to set a good example for those around me, and the excitement of pushing past my limits to see what I’m capable of achieving.

How do you define success, and what drives you to achieve that?

Best career advice you’ve received?

The best career advice that I’ve received is love of sales + love of life = a happy result. This really helped me stop the growing stress, curb the immense feeling of self-doubt, and lessen the short-lived defeat when a house didn’t sell, escrow fell through, or a variety of other things didn’t go as planned. A constant reminder to myself is that if I lose the light that I was blessed with, I lose the love for what I do as well. When you’re the best and genuinely happiest version of yourself, you really can’t lose. John Wooden said it best: “Success comes from knowing that you did your best to become the best that you are capable of becoming.”

What makes a great leader is the expertise to not look at you as competition but empower you to elevate yourself, investment of their time to help you grow, and the desire for you to become your best self to become the most successful person you can be.

What’s been your happiest memory of late?

My happiest memory as of late is seeing my daughter turn 8 in November. I am blessed with the opportunity and the ability to not just be around but to actively witness the smart, beautiful, and honest young lady she’s becoming. I am thrilled to watch her build friendships, figure out her own likes and interests, and develop her own sense of self that’s sincere, authentic, and filled with passion. Being able to give her the life that I never had growing up will forever be my favorite memory. Thank you, Lewis, for the opportunity to do that.
