Employee Spotlight, Diego Castrejon Escobar
Read below to learn more about Diego Castrejon Escobar, Portfolio Leasing Consultant with Lewis since July 2022.

What do you do at Lewis and what does a typical day look like?

Diego: I am a Portfolio Leasing Consultant; my typical day is understanding the leasing needs of the property I am at for the day. I help drive traffic by completing follow ups on Knock to get people through the door to tour them and hopefully getting them to lease!

What drew you to working at Lewis?

Diego: Funny enough nothing, I had no idea Lewis even existed or even thought about joining this type of work. Danny Chouinard was actually my customer at my AT&T Store, he recruited me after I got him and his son a new phone and although he will deny it, I fixed his account!

What has your career path looked like?

Diego: I’ve been here for about 2 years now since starting with Lewis and have remained a Portfolio Leasing Consultant since then, but I am looking to become a Leasing Manager in future or wait for Harvest at Terra Vista to become a Leasing Consultant.

How do you stay busy outside of the office?

Diego: I try to stay as active as possible outside of work by going to the gym daily, playing in a softball team every Thursdays, taking my dog Zoe to the dog park off Baseline, trying new restaurants. I love to travel for food and playing video games I have even built my own PC.

How did you get started with your hobbies?

Diego: I love baseball and never got to play as a kid, so this is my redemption, I’m getting better the more I play it. Being a foody is definitely the most fun though. I travel for food, and I’ve been to so many restaurants. I got recommendations for any occasion, I don’t gatekeep!

Any favorite moments?

Diego: That is always a difficult one when you have so many. I think it would be experiencing a Michelin Starred restaurant for the first time, that was an amazing moment. As a kid growing up, I wanted to be a chef but never really worked out as you can see. But experiencing that, as cliché as it sounds, is something that sticks with me to this day! The restaurant’s name is Gwen in LA just so you know.

Biggest challenges?

Diego: I would say the biggest challenges of it all was losing weight, I went from weighing 250lbs to now sitting at 195lbs with healthy weight. I have learned to eat cleaner and manage my intake much better. I have more structure in the way I work out and fixing my sleep schedule which that was a tough one too.
