What do you do at Lewis and what does a typical day look like?

Teondra: I am a newly promoted Leasing Admin at Homecoming at The Preserve. I assist the leasing team with overflow tours and assist my Leasing Manager with application approvals, auditing our new move in and renewal files as well as help with reporting for corporate. I love working with a huge team and just being a part of it and adding value anywhere that I can.

What drew you to working at Lewis?

Teondra: I love the fact that Lewis really focuses on family. I know and have met many people who have worked here for years and that says a lot about a company when you have so many employees who have been here 5+ years. I have family members who live in Lewis properties as well and they have nothing but great things to say.

What has your career path looked like?

Teondra: I started at Lewis in January as a leasing consultant and I have already been promoted in 5 months of me being here. That’s impressive to me because companies I’ve worked for have certain tenure times before they will promote you no matter how well you perform in your current position. In my new role, although I have just started it, I can already see my path for getting into management.

How do you stay busy outside of the office?

Teondra: Outside of the office, I am taking care of my 3-year-old son. That is my primary job and I love being with him and watching him grow. I also have a podcast that my cousins and I started last year. We started it as an outlet as I was coming out of therapy. We love to talk about current life situations when it comes to adulting and how we all kind of have the same troubles but sometimes they aren’t voiced. We want our audience to know they are not alone, and they also don’t have to deal with issues alone. We come up with suggestions on how to handle these issues as well as tell our stories of how we handled them and came out of it. It’s very refreshing to be able to unleash without judgment. I also picked up roller skating again, which I love to do freely outside but not so much in venues.

How did you get started with your podcast?

Teondra: We got started with this podcast (and roller skating) because I was in therapy and going through something for a couple of years and not really letting anyone in on what was happening. Once I started to feel better, my conversations with those close to me started to change and I wish I had voiced myself earlier so that I could have that support at the time I needed it most. My biggest passion is to reach out to those who have gone through or are going through something similar to show them that someone does care.

Any favorite moments with your podcast?

Teondra: I think every moment and time we get together is really my favorite. I can’t really choose one particular moment, even with roller skating. We skate together and it’s so relaxing and helps us to escape reality for a bit. I can say, and it didn’t all happen at one time, but our hair colors becoming almost like a superpower for each of us was a very exciting time once we realized it. On our podcast we represent different elements and each elements carries a different color that represents us individually.

Biggest challenges with your podcast?

Teondra: I would say our biggest challenge with our podcast is scheduling time to shoot them. Two of us have toddlers and the other is really busy with her artwork, job and freelancing. We are trying a new scheduling tactic so that we can meet up more to create more content together in the time that we have available. We have so much to talk about and cannot wait to get it out.
