Davy Vargas, Maintenance Technician at Homecoming at the Preserve
What drew you to working at Lewis?
Davy: From being in this field for several years, I’ve always heard great things about Lewis. Several years ago, I heard that there’s a lot of growth opportunities for employees in all positions and that the company itself is always growing allowing more open positions in different fields. The portfolio is top-notch in the industry, so I wanted to try and become an asset to be a part of it as it keeps growing.
How do you stay busy outside of the office?
Davy: I am very family-oriented, so I try to gather and hang out with my family when I can. I enjoy going camping, road trips to sight see, and going on hikes. I like to off road for the same reason: being able to go to places with spectacular views and sceneries. The calm, serene atmosphere is really relaxing and enjoyable.
How do you stay motivated?
Davy: Staying motivated can be easy and difficult- it all depends on your mindset. Luckily, being in this field, it comes easily. There are challenges that come with it, but in the end it’s all worth it. Helping the residents be happy and stay happy is the goal. After completing their work orders, seeing the gratitude and comfort of their items being fixed in their homes keeps them satisfied and calm. Also, after prepping a unit, it is great to see how happy and excited the new resident is upon receiving their beautiful new home. Keeping our work order number count down is a day-to-day challenge that is always motivating for all employees, the company, and the residents. It is always highly prioritized.
Julio Lopez, Maintenance Technician at Homecoming at the Preserve
What drew you to working at Lewis?
Julio: I was referred to Lewis by a vendor back in August of 2020. I really enjoyed working for a month at Homecoming at The Preserve, but unfortunately, I made a mistake going back to my former employer. Three years later I decided to ask Mr. Alfonso Escalera for another opportunity I am so glad and blessed to be back because it feels like I never left.
Thank you, Mr. Alfonso, and Lewis.
What motivates you to give your best at work every day?
Julio: First of all, because I am very grateful to be given a second chance to return, so for me the best motivation every day at work is to give my best and thus be able to say thank you to Lewis for letting me be part of his company.
Biggest challenges?
Julio: My biggest challenge at Homecoming is to continue learning about the property to be able to be more useful to the property. Also, to keep myself updated on my knowledge because in this industry you never stop learning.
Day-to-day, my biggest goal is to be able to close as many work orders as possible and be able to help my coworkers.
