While we’ve seen great success on the New Hire Announcement, we noticed a missed opportunity to recognize current employees. This new initiative aims to introduce teams, acknowledge achievements, foster connection, and provide some education on role structure and function.

What is your role at Lewis:

Yvonne: My current position is Community Director-Senior Facility. I manage 140 units and a team of two maintenance personnel.

What’s your favorite part of your job:

Yvonne: The favorite part of my job is working with the residents, who are seniors. I really enjoy planning and participating in the monthly events, which allows me the opportunity to spend more time with the residents.

How do you keep your team motivated:

Yvonne: I have found that having weekly and sometimes daily one-on-ones helps to keep my team motivated. Because we are such a small team, I am able to spend more quality team with each team member. We sometimes have fun competitions, i.e., we recently remodeled our two laundry rooms, so each team had to come up with a theme for their laundry room (one team had 2 members and the other had 1). It was very exciting to see the end result.

What is your role at Lewis:

Michelle: I have been newly promoted to the Assistant Community Director at Linden Court. In my role, I am responsible for: assisting in the management of the Maintenance and Grounds-keeping staff; budgets, reports, and bookkeeping; assisting in the hiring, motivation, monitoring and rewarding of employees; reports, variances, occupancy, etc.; and ensuring the promotion of consistent resident satisfaction.

Who has inspired your career most:

Michelle: Honestly it has been each and every one of us that works for Lewis Management Corp. I have met some amazing people who have not been shy in lending a helping hand when needed or sharing tips and tricks of the trade. I’ve learned in order to live a successful and fulfilling life, one should surround themselves with people who have the same beliefs and values. To date, my peers and colleagues have not fell short! They continue to unknowingly inspire by the drive and determination they have each day. 😊

What's your favorite part of your job:

Justin: My favorite parts of the job is being able to interact with residents and peers every single day, creating a fun atmosphere so the team is excited about coming to work and having exciting new challenges every single day.

What’s one professional skill you’ve nailed:

Justin: Coming from In N Out, I believe that built the foundation for the customer service I provide every day. The fact that customer service is a huge part of the company’s success, it a no brainer to join the Lewis Team.

What makes a great leader:

Justin: Great leaders treat their teams with respect, gaining respect in return. Being open and honest makes work more efficient and enjoyable. Leadership requires delegation–trusting their team to complete what they are assigned with excellence produces positive morale and mutual respect. A great leader will build a Circle of Safety for their team which is vital to a healthy work environment.

What's your favorite part of your job:

Mark: My favorite part about my position is being able to help our residents by correcting whatever maintenance related issues they have. However, the icing on the cake is the level of satisfaction I get from being able to accomplish every task at hand, and ensuring our residents are happy with the end result.

What's on professional skill you've mastered:

Mark: One great skillset out of the many would definitely have to be customer service. Speaking and communicating with residents is something I’m pretty good at. Furthermore, I pride myself on being able to adapt to different personalities and demographics very well.

What are the biggest challenges in your role:

Mark: One of the biggest challenges is trying to multitask and run a 136-unit apartment complex with just myself as the maintenance supervisor. There are many moving parts aside from the physical aspect of my position such as: administrative, logistics, and more.

Tell us a bit about yourself:

Juliana: Family is everything to me. I am married to my wonderful husband of 4 years and I am also a mother to my beautiful 4 year old girl, who is a combination sassy and sweet (she is truly my mini me). I love anything Disney, reading, walking, and baking.

What advice would you give to others pursuing a career in property management:

Juliana: Grow thick skin! This business can be brutal but if you learn to adapt and laugh things off you can go far in Property Management.

What's your most memorable work story:

Juliana: My team covering my office in photos of Amber’s Famous Orange jacket…. I am still finding photos in my office. They got me good.
