Read below to learn more about Carmen Ortega, Commercial Porter with Lewis since 2013.
What is your role at Lewis and what do you do?
Carmen: I’ve been with Lewis for over a decade now, primarily focusing on maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of various commercial properties. This includes everything from keeping common areas spotless to ensuring the grounds are well-kept and inviting for everyone who visits.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
Carmen: What I love most is the sense of satisfaction that comes from knowing our tenants and coworkers can walk into a clean and well-maintained space. It’s all about creating a positive environment for everyone, and I take pride in doing my best at every task.
What were you doing before Lewis?
Carmen: Before joining Lewis in 2013, I had experience in similar roles within the property management industry. That background has helped me excel in my current position and ensure that our properties are always in top-notch condition.
How do you stay busy outside of work?
Carmen: Outside of work, I’m very involved in volunteer work. I teach Sunday school at my church, which is incredibly rewarding. Recently, I’ve also started volunteering at an orphanage called “Bethesda” across the border. I’ve taken on the responsibility of providing essential items like clothing, shoes, school supplies, and gifts for the children there. It’s a cause that’s close to my heart, and I feel privileged to be able to make a difference in their lives.
What do you love most about the job?
Carmen: One thing that stands out to me is how my role as a groundskeeper has evolved into something more meaningful outside of work. While I enjoy my job, my true passion lies in helping others and spreading kindness. It’s a journey that has taught me the importance of giving back and making a positive impact wherever I can.
