Types of Accounting Jobs
At Lewis, you can choose your Accounting career path. We offer positions in the Inventory Group, Accounts Payable, Family Office and other teams. But we also believe that there’s always room to grow!
Accountant – Inventory Group
An inventory accountant manages the assets of a company or individual. They report to the Accounting Supervisor for Projects In-Development.
In this role, you’ll spend your time assisting with real estate sales calculations and cost allocations. You’ll also prepare transaction summaries for the management team. For these tasks, a strong knowledge of preparing work papers is required.
Every month, you’ll manage various billings and reconciliations for the accounts. Ad-hoc analyses and reports will be under your direction as well.
Accountant – Family Office
A family office accountant takes charge of multiple business and individual accounts. They report to the Family Office Accounting Manager, working at the corporate office.
At Lewis, you will be responsible for the bank and investment accounts of several trusts, companies, and individuals. Your main tasks will be performing monthly reconciliations for their accounts. Preparing various ad-hoc analyses and client reports is a vital part of the job. Every week, you’ll review invoices, checks, and cash reports for your clients. Making deposits and keeping an organized, up-to-date filing system will be essential to making your day-to-day work productive and effective.
Room to Grow
Although you may start at Lewis as an Accounting Clerk, there are always opportunities to move up or around. You might move into an Accountant role or a role within Payroll or Tax, or the Finance team. Remember, Accounting touches just about every part of the company and its business, so in many respects the career opportunities are plentiful.
Job Requirements
The ideal individual has a background in Accounting, with a related degree and two to three years of experience, or more. Given that Microsoft Excel is used so much in Accounting, having good skills with it are essential. While not required, some experience with QuickBooks will be helpful!
As for soft skills, communication is at the top–inside and outside the organization. You will be communicating not just with your co-workers in Accounting, but with other departments, leaders and outside business partners. Written and verbal communication skills are essential for successful teamwork and client liaisons. Organization skills, time management, and prioritizing tasks are crucial for the best accounting careers.

Accounting Jobs Salary
Accountant salaries can range based on location, experience and seniority level. The average salary hovers around $50,000, not factoring in annual bonuses. But typically, the amount will range between $40,000 and $60,000 a year.
The hourly wage for an Accounting Clerk starts at $20 per hour, while an Accountant role at Lewis starts at $25 – $26 an hour, or a bit more. Experience, education, and qualifications will be considered when offering a salary.
