If the world is a mirror, Valeria Reyes’ path reflects the endless possibilities that come from choosing positivity.
What drew you to working at Lewis?
I heard amazing stories about Lewis and knew their communities are absolutely stunning. Everything has proven to be true, and everyone has been more than welcoming. It is not often you find so many amazing people in one place, but Lewis is one of those places!
How do you stay motivated, and how do you motivate others?
Working so closely with such amazing people, you can build great relationships. This allows you not only to grow in many ways, most recently in my role as Assistant Community Director, but also to learn new skills with the help of your team. There is always something new to learn, by keeping a positive attitude and knowing you have the help to overcome any obstacle makes for the best motivation.
How would you define leadership?
Leadership to me is being a role model not only to everyone around, but to yourself as well. Knowing you can achieve everything you put your mind to, which many times, with a lot of hard work, anything is possible. Lewis has many great role models, every moment is a teaching moment, and the patience, drive, and motivation everyone carries has such a positive impact on not only the teams, but the residents who call these communities their home.
How would you define leadership?
What is your why behind what you do—what fuels you?
I became a mom 2 years ago to a sweet little boy. Every day I am reminded why I will give 110%. I have learned to slow down in life and enjoy the small moments. Appreciating a new perspective in life with my family at home and at work. I hope to be a role model to him as my parents were to me.
